Jeezo, what a week so far! Seven hours of brain scans (including a two-hour MRI this morning with nae breaks, ugh), attending a talk on Queering Anarchism which I have extremely mixed feelings about, funtimes sitting in on a Wobbly meeting for the first time, lots of ponderings about a bunch of things.
This is my last weekend of being off before my boss gets back from holiday and I’ve pure tidied and cleaned loads and today I dismantled my bed by myself and felt like an adult and now I’m on a single mattress on the floor with pancakes, beer, and Rocky Horror. Good day.
Yeah so I haven’t properly posted on here in ages. Life getting in the way, still not having internet where I live yadda yadda. Stuff wot I did recently:
- went to London, went to Mouth-to-Mouth Fest curated by Michael Gira, saw RVIVR and Martha, ate so much food including a vegan milkshake that looked like it was made by blending together ice cream and a brownie. Rad.
- working. Somewhat surprisingly I’m still gainfully employed. I think this is the first time since I moved out of my mum’s house that I haven’t felt really skint and am not constantly worrying about money. Yaldi.
- survived the Great Scabies Outbreak of 2013 at my flat lolol so much fun D: we basically had to take off and nuke it from orbit.
Upcoming:
- seeing clype in a week’s time. OMFG!
- seeing Ghost Mice, Spoonboy, ONSIND, Martha and Winona Forever playing in Glasgow in the next couple months. <3 also Oi Polloi and Death Grips yaas.
- getting broadband after nearly a year without it. BB LET ME LOVE YOU.
The past few weeks have been a rollercoaster of dealing with my stuff as well as other people’s extremely emotionally-taxing issues so am feeling mega drained atm and kind of like there’s not enough processing power in the world to deal with all of that. D: Part of that is the rent campaign I mentioned before which has been going dead well but is totally exhausting gahh. I also had my appointment at the gender clinic which went pretty much as I expected and was terrifying/exciting. Also I’m hopefully going to be moving in a week or two, which is also terrifying/exciting (to somewhere that has broadband, omg). Sooo pooped.
So tonight I’ve got to work for a bit, then I’ma bake a cake, smoke a joint on the balcony whilst contemplating the city, rock dat compersion for my partner whilst they’re on a date, get snuggled in ma jammies, and possibly watch Rocky Horror and belt out all the tunes (again).
Me and ma boo just watched Adventure Time and had a fry-up and they’re currently wrapped in a duvet having a nap and sighing occasionally and the rain is battering against the window but it’s pretty warm in here and this is what afternoons are meant to be like. :3
Soz for lack of updates, been doing things and stuff! Just got back from Leeds, where I talked for hours about anarchist organisational praxis, frolicked/resentfully trudged in the snow, drank fruit beers, watched Stewart Lee and Knightmare, and discovered the most amazin vegan takeaway options ever. Yay Leeds!
So family christmas happened. Overall it was pretty nice and am feeling super grateful to be able to spend time with my family like that. Also my uncle’s partner made me a nut roast ~from scratch~ and I pure nearly started greetin. Unrelated, my current living situation has proved untenable so I’m gonna be moving again in the new year, so that’s pretty exciting and terrifying but mostly exciting. Related to that, I’m currently holed up in ma sweetie’s room whilst they’re out of town. Eating takeaway and thinking about winter and warm snuggles and how everything is gonna be okay.
So I’ll probably find out tomorrow whether I’ve got the job or not. Mega excited. Also the next two weeks are gonna be epic - tonight I’m going skipping to make vast quantities of soup for the anarchist social on Friday, which is followed by a friend’s 21st later the same evening, then my previous flatmate’s christmas do the next night, then staying with my gran for two days, then a potluck, also the amazing syeborg coming to visit (we’re gonna do allll the vegan baking and festive crafting and shit), another potluck, then writing a bunch of stuff for anarkiez organising, then cooking a big christmas dinner for my flatmate as my present to them (ssssshhhh!). This is punctuated by possibly working dunno-how-many-hours at what is currently Schrödinger’s job, plus working 16 hours at another job. Then spending three days with my family eating food and getting pissed. Embers of 2k12, bring it!
So, I kinda got a job. Well, a trial shift at least. I’m probably gonna be starting tomorrow and I’m actually pretty excited and I kinda feel like an adult or something. Brb celebrating by cosying up with a duvet, drinking cider and watching Shrek. Lately I’ve felt super-okay in an unfamiliar way which makes me think that I’ve probably been in denial about being really depressed for the majority of this year. Lol. But yeah, I feel good right now and like everything might work out okay and stuff. Yaas. I also finally got an appointment at the local gender clinic after being on the waiting list for about six months, it’s in February and I’m stoked about dumping my ~gender feels~ on a complete stranger looool. Also I’m, uh, seeing one of my best friends who is totally amazing and a babely babe and I feel majorly glad to have them in my life js. :3
So I’ve been doing these paid psychology experiments at a local university. Today I’m getting my brain scanned (again) which pretty much involves lying perfectly still for about three hours. In a way it’s quite relaxing as you basically just zone out and your mind wanders for ages.
Today I am literally getting paid to daydream about butts.
